00:54This is the message of House Speaker Martin Romualdez

00:57in the adjournment of the session of the House of Representatives last night.

01:01There is a motion to direct the Secretary General to immediately endorse to the Senate

01:06the impeachment complaint.

01:08Having been filed by more than one-third of the membership of the House

01:12or a total of 215 members, is there any objection?

01:17The Chair hears none.

01:19The motion is approved.

01:21The Secretary General is so directed.

01:24The session is suspended.

01:31In a historic moment, the congressmen formally impeached Vice President Sara Duterte.

01:39This is the first time in the history of the Philippines

01:43that the second president of the Philippines has been impeached.

01:47Culpable violation of the constitution, betrayal of public trust, graft and corruption

01:53and other high crimes are the grounds of impeachment.

01:57215 congressmen or more than one-third of the House members signed the complaint

02:03so it was quickly included in the plenary and was transmitted to the Senate.

02:08Presidential son and House Senior Deputy Majority Leader Sandro Marcos

02:14was the first to appear here.

02:15While House Speaker Martin Romualdez is at the end of the list.

02:19Even if he is impeached, it does not mean that VP Sara can leave the post immediately.

02:25The Senate will serve as impeachment trial court.

02:28This is where the senator-judges will decide if VP Duterte is convicted or acquitted.

02:34Congressmen who will serve as prosecutors in the impeachment trial were appointed to the House of Representatives.

02:45Roge Gutierrez,

02:46Joel Chua,

02:47Jill Bongalon,

02:48Loreto Acharon,

02:50Marcelino Libanan,

02:51Arnan Panaligan,

02:52Isabel Maria Zamora,

02:54Lawrence Defensor,

02:55and Jonathan Keith-Flores.

02:57All of the 11 who will be prosecuting the second president are all lawyers.

03:02I'm honored to be selected as one of the prosecutors.

03:05I think this impeachment process is a good venue.

03:08This is a good opportunity to lay the evidence for this impeachment complaint.

03:14And it's also the perfect opportunity for the Vice President herself to be given due process.

03:20Until now, the complaint will be awaited in the Senate.
