Dame Priti Patel has hailed Donald Trump's "extraordinary mandate" as US President, and says the Conservative Party believes in the UK's "special relationship" with the United States. The shadow foreign secretary made the comments despite disagreeing with Trump's description of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as a "dictator" and his echoing of Russian rhetoric on the war. 00:06successful election. And the Republican Party, which he represents, they are my sister party,

00:13effectively, the sister party of the Conservative Party. We stand by our US allies. We believe in

00:18the special relationship. You already heard me speak about the historic successes of that

00:23historic special relationship. We want that to continue. And I can tell you now I've met with

00:29Republican congressmen and women this week who've come to London. And these, we are having

00:34constructive discussions about ways of working and being supportive of each other in the future.
