00:00A government backbencher has questioned the need for the authorities to probe an Anti-Security

00:10Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh said in the Dewan Rakyat Today that he wondered if the

00:15investigation was appropriate given Putrajaya's stance that the law needs to be reformed.

00:20On February 9th, Malaysia Kini reported that police had launched a probe into the gathering

00:25which called for Sosma to be abolished.

00:28Sungai Bula Police Chief Hafiz Nur said the authorities were investigating the gathering

00:32under Section 9 Sub 5 of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 for failing to provide a notice on

00:38assemblies.

00:39Separately, Putrajaya Police denied claims it had arrested two leaders from human rights

00:44group Suara Rakyat Malaysia.

00:47District Police Chief Idisha Mohammed said the leaders were only brought in to have their

00:51statements recorded and no arrests were made.

00:55Earlier today, Suaram claimed that Putrajaya Police arrested the NGO's Executive Director

00:59Sivan Doraisamy and Coordinator Azra Nasrun.

01:03Both Sivan and Azra are said to have since been released.

01:08On Monday, Sivan had accompanied several family members of Sosma detainees who had gathered

01:12outside the Home Ministries building in Putrajaya to push for a meeting with officials and hand

01:17over a memorandum.
