00:00DAP's Lim Lip Eng has lodged a police report against past Deputy President Tuan Ibrahim

00:08Tuan Man over alleged racist remarks about non-Malays.

00:12Yesterday, Tuan Ibrahim reportedly said if the Chinese and Indians conversed in their

00:16mother tongues, it would cause distrust in the Malay community.

00:21Lim said such remarks were not only incorrect but potentially divisive, Kuang Wai Po reported.

00:28He also said inciting tension and stirring up racial sentiments was against the law,

00:33punishable under Sections 504 and 505C of the Penal Code.

00:38Lim called on enforcement agencies to prevent the escalation of racial tensions

00:43and to uphold Malaysia's harmony.

00:45Tuan Ibrahim claimed the use of vernacular languages would cause negative assumptions,

00:50which was why Malay should be the intermediary language.

00:54In response, Tanah Rata Assemblyman Ho Chi Yang said,

00:58past cannot disparage the mother tongue of non-Malays and also seek their votes.
