00:12At a press conference, Saifuddin maintained that public safety was the top priority of
00:18his ministry and its enforcement agencies, particularly the police.
00:23He said there was no need for panic over the isolated incident.
00:28Acknowledging public concern over the use of firearms in the incident,
00:32Saifuddin said Malaysia had strict gun control measures in place.
00:37He said Malaysians must have a licence to own a firearm and that owning one without a permit
00:42is a serious criminal offence, punishable by up to seven years in jail.
00:48However, he said the Setia Alam shooting showed a need to review the training modules of security
00:53guards and auxiliary policemen to ensure they are better equipped to handle such incidents.
