00:00The government will implement an advanced passenger screening system by the end of the year
00:05as part of efforts to curb illegal entries at KLIA, says Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
00:12Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat, he said the system would initially involve 10 out of the 56 airlines
00:17operating in Malaysia and enable authorities to receive passengers' information before
00:22travellers arrive in the country. Saifuddin added that the ministry was also moving towards the
00:27full digitalization of immigration services, particularly through the expansion of auto
00:32gates at entry points nationwide to reduce opportunities for abuse by enforcement officers.
00:38He said a total of 625 auto gates will be installed at 123 entry points under the
00:43Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency with the first phase beginning in December
00:48at major locations and full rollout by March 2028. Saifuddin also said the ministry was piloting the
00:54use of body-worn cameras for immigration officers stationed at key entry points.
00:59He said these initiatives were part of broader efforts to address misconduct at the country's
01:04main points of entry, including KLIA, which has been plagued by allegations of syndicates colluding
01:10with enforcement officers to facilitate the illegal entry of travellers.
