00:00Now that a second Trump term has begun,

00:04I feel that it's more important than ever

00:09to instill confidence in my children

00:12and their abilities and them as independent thinkers

00:15and to infuse as much joy as possible into our lives.

00:19Yeah, I would say I agree, especially having a teenager.

00:22I've really been trying to teach her

00:24the importance of fact-checking

00:25and where she's getting her resources from

00:28and where she's fact-checking from.

00:31And I think that also just instilling a sense of peace

00:34and joy and teaching my daughters to be very centered

00:37in who they are as people and understanding

00:40that we define that within ourselves,

00:42regardless of what is said outside the home.

00:45And also teaching them compassion and humility

00:49and understanding the importance of differences

00:51and to not lose sight of that.

00:52I just feel like my answer to anything with that name,

00:55it kind of stresses me out, to be honest.

00:57It gives me anxiety, but I try to stay in the joy

01:00as much as possible.

01:03But yeah, I think if I'm being genuinely honest

01:06in this moment, I feel a little anxious.

01:08I feel anxious, but hopeful.

01:09It's like a weird balance, you know?

01:11Yeah.

01:12What about you, Mel?

01:15I think discernment is really, really important right now

01:19for myself and for my children, being Canadian

01:22and really learning about the U.S. politic

01:26presidential system.

01:27It's been an eye-opening, veil-lifting experience.

01:31And I feel like I've seen things I can't unsee,

01:33having a different perspective,

01:34coming from a different country.

01:36So I want my children to know that there are different ways

01:39of doing things and there's different ways

01:41of existing in this world.

01:42And so that's kind of the place that I approach this season

01:47with my children.

01:48Some of the values that I teach my children

01:50in my way of countering the negativity

01:53is through us really just focusing

01:55on the core values of our home, right?

01:58And so a lot of those values are respect.

02:02I think it's a blessing that we live in a home

02:03where their father and I are different religions,

02:06we're different races.

02:07So they're already growing up with that example already

02:09of the fact that you can coexist with people

02:11that have completely different views,

02:13but have the same values.

02:15And so the values of our home are very much the same,

02:17which are centered around family, kindness, love, inclusion.

02:20That doesn't change.

02:21But how we may see the world,

02:22how their father and I express,

02:24I'm super spiritual and I pray a lot.

02:27He's not like that, you know what I mean?

02:29But they see a good person

02:30and they see their father treating people well.

02:32And so I think that that example,

02:34that living example within our home

02:36of really just focusing on the value of someone

02:39versus like the exterior outside,

02:41I'm praying that that translates

02:43into how they treat other people

02:45and just manifest its way into their core values,

02:48if that makes sense.

02:49Yeah.

02:50I feel like I counter it by really putting emphasis

02:55on God is most important.

02:57I think finding that center

03:00so that everything else doesn't overwhelm us,

03:02I feel like is the best way for me to counter.

03:04And I think everything else kind of is an extension

03:06from that, you know?

03:07Yeah.
