‘Community Police are so important!’ Londoners call for more local policing

We ask Londoners if they’d rather see a bigger Met Police influence, or more local officer.

00:00Yep, I definitely think community police officers make a difference. I was burbled not so long

00:10back and it was the neighbourhood police officers that came round. I felt very anxious in my

00:17property afterwards. They came round, they spoke to me.

00:22I think community police officers are a really good idea. I hope they get the training and

00:25support that they need. I think knowing people in your community, I can't say I do know who

00:31the community police officers are out here, but I like the idea of there being people

00:35who you can approach much more easily than the police, the Met, yeah.

00:40People are too ready to criticise the police when they're not around, when they're not

00:44visible and I think it also, you know, somebody might not want to go to a police station and

00:51actually report a crime, but if they see a community officer on the streets they might

00:54approach them for some reason. So I think, yeah, for that reason it's a good idea.
