Leeds: Is going to the pub now a luxury?

Has the rising cost of going to the pub made it more of a luxury? How often do you go to the pub each week?

00:00You've got to raise your prices to pay your rent, but no one's coming in because you're

00:04having to raise your prices. It's really difficult. The economy's in a really, really, really

00:09horrible state. So we're not able to treat ourselves as much as, you know, maybe my parents

00:13are. They go to the pub maybe two, maybe three times a week. Me, I barely go to the pub once

00:18a month nowadays. And it's really sad because it is a place for community. It is a place

00:22to build bonds and build relationships. But it's just unaffordable. It's unsustainable.

00:28And something does need to be done about it.

00:29Certainly don't. I don't have a local anymore. And I think my days of going in pub all the

00:36time have far gone. But I've had a lot of fun in pubs. There's still some good pubs

00:42in Leeds. The Temple is a nice pub. Lovely pint of Tetley's. It's like going back to

00:471975 when you go in there, the hand-pulled Tetley's. Golly, the times I've said, Tetley's

00:54bitter, please. It is countless.
