00:00And now we open and boy, the taste just comes straight in my mouth. I can't even close the
00:07box to go with it. The pepper, everything makes the taste so good. Why miss Royal Castle?
00:14I love Royal Castle. Royal Castle's the best.
00:18After being closed for one week, the local something is back in the downtown area, but
00:23now located a stone's throw away on the southern side of Independence Square. Royal Castle
00:28tells TV6 News its downtown Port of Spain location has traditionally been among its
00:34top performing locations and they expect this new location to bring them even more customers.
00:41So there's a lot of competition where fast food is concerned, especially chicken and
00:45chips. Tell me, how is Royal Castle holding up against the competition?
00:48All right, we're going to hold up really, really well while we're on the other side
00:53of the street. We did probably around 600, 700 per day, and I'm expecting to do much
01:00more on this side. I mean, we have taxi stands. I mean, yes, we have our competition on this
01:05side. So and of course, Royal Castle is local, so we're going to do much better. We have
01:10the taxi stands, as I said, we have a lot of pedestrians. So I'm thinking we're going
01:14to do way much better. Royal Castle will celebrate 57 years in the
01:19business come February and says the people are at the center of all that they do.
01:24Royal Castle is known for our flavors, the local something, you know, that flavor that
01:29you get in the chicken. You wouldn't find it anywhere else. And you know, our additional
01:33stuff, we're also known for our pepper sauce. It's unique. You know, you can try to duplicate,
01:38but it's not going to happen as well as our honey mustard. We try to make sure that everybody's
01:43incorporated and keep that local flavor, that local something that you're always hearing
01:48about, you know, into our product and our brand. So we're really all about the people,
01:54you know, internally and externally. In that vein, Royal Castle's downtown location will
01:59also feature another wholly locally owned food chain.
02:02So Royal Castle was founded in 1968. You know, it's our first locally owned restaurant chain
02:10in Trinidad and Tobago. So that's a huge accomplishment. We're still going strong. We're still opening
02:15outlets. We opened our new outlet at Maraval Road late last year. This is our reopening
02:21at Independence Square. And you know, it's so fantastic that we're able to incorporate
02:25even our, you know, other local vendors because we're here partnering now with Mario's, you
02:31know, who's also a local vendor and who gives back to the community. And it's so good to
02:36come out here and see the people of Trinidad and Tobago coming and support both entities,
02:40you know, in our shared dine. And we hope that we could do some more collaborations
02:44going forward, you know, because we always believe that it's enough for everybody.
02:48Royal Castle has 39 locations across Trinidad and Tobago. Renessa Cutting, TV6 News.
