00:00with Trinbago Express Shipping have been waiting months for their goods and they say the company
00:05has been giving them nothing but excuses. They're now calling for compensation and they're pleading
00:10with the Port Authority to intervene. Vanessa Cutting has more. My daughter has been left
00:16with all these things after spending 65,000 TT and this is not just with baby items with food
00:21supplies, personal supplies, etc. Tools are correct. So who's going to reimburse me? I have
00:28spoken to my attorney yesterday and my attorney will definitely be getting in contact with this
00:32company and I have to be reimbursed. I have to reimburse the full amount. As many as 100
00:39Trinbago Express Shipping clients are said to be awaiting their goods which were shipped from the
00:45U.S. months aback. With no resolution from the company, they formed a WhatsApp group and eventually
00:51decided to reach out to the media. On the 25th of January 2025, my two commercial bins were
00:58picked up at my address on Liberty Avenue, New York, right? I was told that these boxes would
01:04arrive within three to four weeks and we would have paid to expedite the shipping. This will
01:08be the last time myself, my relatives or anyone will be shipping to Trinbago Express after this
01:14incident. Some persons have been waiting since August. Since the month of August, some persons
01:19have been waiting. Probably almost in August. It's almost been a year. When are we going to receive
01:25our items? Another woman is also calling for compensation from Trinbago Express Shipping
01:30after losing her deposit for a venue where she was supposed to host a child's christening. It will make
01:37it four months now since I'm waiting. And what went on with your christening and all those things? It had to
01:44cancel because I literally lose the money for the place. All the baby stuff to everything that he had to wear and
01:51everything was in the barrel. So I basically lost out. So you're looking at, we're not even counting the
01:58money for the stuff that is in the barrel. I literally am at a loss right now of at least $6,000.
02:04And as the losses mount, so does the frustration. As the clients say, the shipping company has been
02:11giving them nonstop excuses. Umpteen times. And it's just one song over and over, waiting on the
02:18customs, done stuff, the container, waiting on customs. And I called someone in customs who told
02:24me this has nothing to do with customs. This is Trinbago's fault. And when I spoke to other people in the
02:32U.S. and around, they keep telling them the same story. Some clients have also been told that the
02:40delays are the fault of the port authority. However, one client provided us with an email received from
02:46Trinbago Express, explaining that the company has been having some operational and financial
02:52challenges. She notes, however, business continues as normal. If you know that you have issues,
02:58up to this, up to yesterday, someone went there and they are still collecting people's stuff.
03:03And you'll know that you all have this issue. And you know, you know what, making it look really
03:08bad too. They had Facebook page and stuff, you know, they took it down. So then you know what it
03:14is you're doing. You know what it is you're doing. The affected customers are calling on the port
03:20authority to intervene. We are making a plea to the relevant authorities, which is port, if they could
03:25kindly release our items. Because we, it is alleged that they have financial issues. And I don't think
03:33the customer should be able, should be held responsible for this. So I'm making a plea that
03:40if you can kindly release our goods. TV6 News has reached out to the port authority for a response.
03:47Renessa Cutting, TV6 News. While TV6 is still awaiting feedback from Trinbago Shipping, meantime,
03:54the port authority explains that between December 2024 and April 2025, 13 full containers consigned to
04:01Trinbago Express arrived at the port of Port of Spain intended for onward movement to Tobago. However,
04:08as the containers were shipped via carrier arranged by Trinbago Express, all related freight charges and
04:14application damage are the responsibility of the consignee, which must be settled with the shipping
04:20line before the cargo can be released. The port authority says after careful internal discussions,
04:27the authority agreed to facilitate a payment plan arrangement with Trinbago Express to bring
04:32resolution to the matter. The port authority confirms that the arrangement was finalized and the
04:37containers are now ready for clearance. The authority is clarifying that none of the delays associated
04:43with this matter are attributable to the port authority of Trinidad and Tobago.
