00:00DSWD Karaga recognized Tagbina's LGU in Surigao del Sur

00:05because of their water system project.

00:08The residents there are having a hard time getting clean water.

00:13This is May Diaz of Radyo Pilipinas, Butuan, for Balitang Pambansa.

00:19The residents of Barangay Santa Maria, Tagbina, Surigao del Sur

00:23used to struggle to get clean water from kilometers away

00:26due to the lack of clean and drinkable water supply.

00:30But with the help of Kapit Bisig,

00:32against poverty, comprehensive and integrated delivery of social services

00:37or Kalahi Seeds of DSWD Karaga,

00:40the residents of Santa Maria were able to get through

00:43after building the level 2 pump-driven water system.

00:47In the past, there were only 4 ponds that were serviced by the natural water system.

00:52Now, they were able to reach Malalayong, Purok

00:55after continuing phase 3 due to the additional funds from Kalahi Seeds.

01:00It's part of their sustainability.

01:05And even the LGU really worked out for that to help this project

01:11to be more functional and to be more proactive

01:14in terms of providing the needs to the community.

01:17DSWD assured that they will continue their cooperation

01:22with the local government of Tagbina

01:24to meet the needs of their residents.

01:28In line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s goal

01:31to improve the lives of Filipinos.

01:34Tagbina LGU was first recognized as the regional winner of Kalahi Seeds

01:40because it showed support for the continued change

01:44towards the sustainability of the community.
