00:00A former director of an SRC International Sundaram Berhad subsidiary company told the
00:07High Court that he signed four blank cheques before a total of RM19.5 million was disbursed
00:13to UMNO. Suboh Yassin, also a director of Jundala Pingiran Sundaram Berhad, said signing
00:19blank cheques was a common practice when he was with the company between 2014 and 2019.
00:26He was testifying as the second witness in a suit brought by SRC International, JPSB
00:33and Gandingan Mentari Sundaram Berhad against the UMNO headquarters and its Selangor chapter.
00:39He said he knew the practice was improper but was told by Nik Faisal Arif Kamil that
00:43there were instructions from higher authorities, namely Najib Razak. Nik Faisal was the SRC
00:50International's CEO and also a director of JPSB and GMSB at the time.
00:56The plaintiffs claimed that the sums of RM16 million and RM3.5 million were wrongly paid
01:02to the UMNO headquarters and Selangor UMNO purportedly for corporate social responsibility
01:07activities. On Monday, the plaintiffs said UMNO received money from a gargantuan slush
01:13fund worth RM4 billion created from funds diverted, embezzled and abused from SRC International's
01:20subsidiaries.
