00:01A former Sabah Law Society president has praised Chief Minister Haji J. Noor's leadership,
00:07saying his administration is helping the state turn the corner.
00:11In a Facebook post, Roger Chin said Haji J.'s government is laying the foundations of a more
00:16self-reliant, results-driven administration. Chin said that several initiatives by the
00:23Gabungan Rakyat Sabah administration, including the Sabah Energy Commission,
00:27marked a turning point in managing the state's most strategic resource.
00:32He added that the state government's decision to reclaim 50% equity in the Samarang oil field
00:37through SMJ Energy, a state-owned entity, was also a significant sign of progress in asserting
00:43energy sovereignty. Chin said Sabah has strengthened its fiscal position, with state revenue showing
00:50steady growth and increased allocations for the development budget. Sabah's reserves have surged
00:55to RM8.6 billion from RM2.93 billion in 2020, which he said is a clear indication of improved
01:03financial governance and expanding revenue streams.
