00:00We've obviously caught up about his Liverpool tenure so far and we mentioned how he's been
00:07hit and miss. He had a few fantastic moments in a Liverpool shirt but he's also been here
00:13or there and he's never quite hit the ground running as they maybe should have done for
00:17that price tag when they brought him in a few seasons ago. Now, in terms of his latest
00:23news transfers, whether it's in or out, what's the latest you can tell us on Darwin Newness'
00:29situation and how are the fans feeling? How's Arnie Schlott feeling? Is he a player that
00:33he really backs to do well under him in the future?
00:37I think Arnie Schlott publicly will really back his players no matter what. We've seen
00:42that but I think fans are starting to run out of a little bit of patience with Darwin
00:49Newness, if I'm being honest. He's been at the club two and a half years now, joint record
00:56fee. He's shown glimpses but he's never found consistency. Has he improved since he joined
01:07the club in 2022? I'd suggest he hasn't made a massive improvement. I think this season
01:17he's had to play a little bit different. Arnie Schlott's more controlled, he doesn't want
01:23his strikers being haily-baily, running around. He wants everything to be a little bit more
01:28measured. He has improved with his press and etc. Newness when he's had a chance but he's
01:35not first choice and that's a problem. If you're paying all that money for a striker,
01:41you want them to be your first choice, scoring goals every other week, being at the fulcrum
01:46of your team. He scored four goals this season in all competitions, two in the Premier League.
01:52He's had more buttons than he has goals. He's a little bit erratic. Liverpool, I can't see them
02:02letting him go unless a really good offer came in in January. Champions League starts again soon.
02:08Liverpool will be looking to go quite deep in that so I can't see him letting him go but in the summer
02:14it's going to be something that they're going to have to think about.
02:17Recruitment, you don't always get them right. It's well known that maybe you look for
02:26a two and three ratio and this one, you know, how many signs Liverpool made for big money and
02:32they have worked out. But a couple haven't and Abby Cato was one and as things stand, you look
02:39at Darwin Newness thinking, is it ever going to work out? He'll have, what, two years left on his deal.
02:45He was a fan's favourite and fans want him to succeed so badly but
02:53there's just, at the minute, no sign that it's going to work out for him and I'm fierce.
