00:00Najib Razak denied sacking former Attorney General Abdul Ghani Patel at the height of

00:07the 1MDB saga in 2015.

00:10Testifying at his 1MDB trial today, Najib said Ghani's services as AG were terminated

00:15due to health problems.

00:17He also said the former Attorney General did not pass the elevation process to be appointed

00:22a federal court judge.

00:24Ghani was AG for 13 years from 2002 to 2015.

00:28He is now a practicing lawyer.

00:31Najib also denied instructing then Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Chief Abu Qasim

00:35Muhammad and two deputy commissioners be removed from office.

00:39He said Abu Qasim at the time was willing to adhere to a change of leadership in MACC

00:45and was prepared to take a role outside the anti-graff body.

00:49Najib is standing trial on 25 charges of abuse of power and money laundering involving 1MDB

00:54funds amounting to RM2.28 billion deposited into his M-Bank accounts.
