Horndean Technology College in Barton Cross, Horndean, have a received a positive result from Ofsted.

00:00Hi, Julie, so tell us how you feel about the recent Ofsted report.

00:06I think it's fair to say that all of the staff feel absolutely brilliant about what we've achieved together.

00:12It's very much a grading that we've received from Ofsted for Outstanding and Good,

00:17that every member of the school community has participated to.

00:21And I mean not just the staff, but the students.

00:23We have a very strong ethos of working together for the best of the child,

00:28to make sure the child is the best version of themselves and that they can achieve that excellence.

00:33And I think the Ofsted report clearly says that we are very much doing that on a day-to-day basis.

00:41Tell me what makes this school so special.

00:45I think it is the ethos.

00:47The ethos of the young people wanting to work together,

00:52recognising the value of their education,

00:55and working for themselves, but also working together with other people.

01:00I think the staff really enjoy being here, in terms of working with our young people.

01:06They love that ethos that we create, where every day is different and every child is special.

01:12I think we're very fortunate with our facilities here.

01:15We've managed to get an all-surface football pitch and an all-surface tennis court.

01:20So those kind of facilities.

01:22And equally, every subject in our curriculum is valued,

01:26which Ofsted obviously identified as being quite superb.

01:30So there is so much choice that our young people can choose from,

01:33in order to decide what their future lives are going to be like.

01:37And tell me, is there any future plans?

01:41We're always looking to improve what we do on a daily basis,

01:45because we want our education to be absolutely excellent,

01:49because every child deserves that.

01:51So we've got new science labs, we're looking to improve our facilities.

01:56We're always keen to make sure we recruit the best staff to teach our young people.

02:00And equally, if there are things in the future that we can do to improve our teaching and learning

02:05with new methodology, then we will do that.
