Bristol’s Clean Air Zone: Locals react to a possible price increase

Air pollution impacts everyone in the city, especially children, the elderly and the more vulnerable members of the city. And the aim of the clean air zone is to address the main source of pollution in the city.

00:11into place in 2022 as part of the council's aim to ensure Bristol meets

00:15the legal limits of pollution within the shortest possible time but the clean air

00:20zone charges have not risen since they were put in place in 2022 and they now

00:26may possibly rise but what do locals think? I used to get charged I gotta

00:31change my car when it failed its MOT this year earlier this year so now I

00:36don't but I just avoided the clean air zone with the older vehicle. I guess it's

00:44just a way of like trying to encourage or prevent people from taking the car as

00:49often so yeah it's a bit of both I guess. What did you think of them putting in

00:55place the clean air zone? It was a good idea what not without a lot of option it

01:00was that will get done by the government it's a requirement and they should have

01:06done it I forget three years ago five years ago something like that they're a

01:34partner he has like an engine that is it can go in there so to me it doesn't

01:39really bother me. I drive very rarely only if I have to only if I have to take

01:44my children to or that if I have to take people somewhere but I ride the bike

01:49mostly or walk.

01:51Max noticed me because I don't pay. I'm walking so there's no charge for my own foot.
