00:13Magistrate Farah Nabiha Mohammedan meted out the fine on the foreigners, comprising four
00:19men and a woman, after they pleaded guilty to the charge.
00:28The five are Syrian Abdal Glel, three Algerian nationals, Mouad Lazib, Haitham Nouawiya,
00:35Yassine Nassar, Moroccan woman Oumayma Malas.
00:39They were charged with committing the offense at Jalan Changkat, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur
00:44at 5.50 a.m. on December 23 last year.
00:48The charge, under section 147 of the penal code, provides imprisonment for up to two
00:54years or with a fine or both upon conviction.
00:58Defense lawyer Erica Ferris Amir, who represented all the five accused, mitigated for a lenient
01:04fine as they are first-time offenders.
