An immigration officer was charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Thursday (Jan 29) with seven counts of failing to report the receipt of bribes totalling RM5,100 for allegedly assisting foreign nationals to evade Immigration Department checks at Kuala Lumpur International Airport two years ago.

The accused, Mohammad Rahmat Mat Yusoff, 47, pleaded not guilty to all seven charges before Judge Rosli Ahmad.

00:25The accused, 47-year-old Mohammad Rahmat Maat Yousaf pleaded
00:30not guilty to all seven charges when they were read out before Judge Rosli Ahab.
00:35According to the charge sheets, Mohammad Rahmat, who was then a great
00:40KP, 22 Immigration Officer at the Immigration Department Headquarters.
00:45Allegedly received bribes amounting to 5,100 ringgit via online
00:50transfers into his bank account as an inducement to facilitate the entry of foreign
00:55nationals through KLIA Terminals 1 and 2. He allegedly f-
01:00failed to report the receipt of the bribes to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission or the nearest
01:05police station at a bank at the Putrajaya Corporation complex between June and August
01:1024. The accused was charged under Section 25-1 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
01:15Act 2009, which carries a maximum fine of
01:20100,000 ringgit or imprisonment of up to 10 years or both upon conviction.
01:25Deputy Public Prosecutor Eliza Amira Habib Rahman sought bail of
01:3010,000 ringgit with conditions for the accused to report to the nearest
