Champion runner Jereem ‘ The Dream’ Richards is the NAAATT Senior Male Athlete Of The Year.

And Leah Bertrand, also a runner, is the Senior Female Athlete.

This was disclosed at yesterday's function on Wrightson Road.

00:00The N3As held their annual awards function on Saturday at the Radisson Hotel in Port
00:05of Spain.
00:06Among those present was Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sport and Community Development
00:11David Roberts.
00:12The Ministry of Sport and Community Development has been steadfast in our commitment to supporting
00:17our athletes through the Ministry's grants such as the Elite Athlete Assistance Program
00:23and continued support to sport-serving bodies.
00:26In addition, through Sport TT, support to the N3As TT is provided via annual subventions
00:35to support development programs.
00:37RSS Phoenix Athletic Club won both the Juvenile and Junior Club of the Year awards.
00:43And the Senior Club of the Year award went to Abilene Wildcats.
00:46Switching to the individuals, and it was Kharifta 200-meter gold medalist Kadeem Chinepu who
00:52copped the Rising Star award.
00:54The Junior Male Athlete award went to Tafari Waldron who won the 5,000-meter race at the
00:59Kharifta Games.
01:01Janay De Gans was the Junior Female Athlete having grabbed gold in the long jump at Kharifta
01:06and also getting into the World Under-20 Finals in Peru.
01:10Then to the big one, Jereme Richards was the Senior Male Athlete of the Year having finished
01:154th in the 400-meter final at the Paris Olympics.
01:18Collecting on his behalf was his mom.
01:20And the Senior Female Athlete award went to Leah Bertrand who was also unavailable.
01:26Bertrand reached the 100-meter semifinals in Paris and was also a gold medalist at the
01:31Big Ten Championships in the USA.
