Very cold weather in store for college football playoffs

Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania will all be facing below-freezing conditions for the biggest college football games yet this year.

00:03That's right Jeff because we're not just tracking the snowfall that's going to impact the northeast

00:06we're also tracking the snowfall that's going to impact and not just the northeast the entire

00:10northern half of the U.S. Here's our updated look at your exclusive AccuWeather Realfield

00:15temperature map and you can see right here in this area highlighted in blue you're going to

00:20see AccuWeather Realfield temperatures in the teens in this darkest shade of blue this is

00:23where we're going to see AccuWeather Realfield temperatures in the single digits. Dangerous

00:28cold here as we head into this evening and we have kickoff an hour away here in South Bend,

00:33Indiana or yes Indiana Notre Dame's playing Indiana there and as you can see temperatures

00:38in the 20s but look at the fourth quarter yeah we're gonna see some snow flurries possible so

00:44it's not gonna be anything like that Pittsburgh and Cleveland game we had a couple of weeks ago

00:48there in Cleveland with that was a really good snowfall game nothing like that but we will see

00:53some snow flurries as we head into this evening. Low temperatures here for tonight here's that

00:57dangerous cold we were talking about we're going to see single digit lows tonight for Green Bay,

01:01Minneapolis, Fargo, I mean Minneapolis dipping down to one degree that's it for your overnight

01:06low some areas will see overnight lows below zero so very dangerous cold here continuing

01:12across the northern plains. Here's a look at the the setup for Saturday cold weather continues

01:17across the Great Lakes with some snow showers there across the coast will stay dry across the

01:21northern plains and mild weather continues across the Rockies here for Saturday afternoon.

01:26Kickoff at noon SMU taking on Penn State and State College and you can see partly cloudy skies

01:31highs in the 20s but there's the thing strong north winds here shaping up across central PA

01:36so what is that going to do that is going to drop our AccuWeather real field temperatures into the

01:40teens here for this game so a very cold day shaping up for that game and then on down the road

01:46in Columbus, Tennessee is going to be taking on Ohio State. Temperature wise it'll be very similar

01:51kickoffs at eight o'clock eastern time evening temperatures will be in the 20s but fortunately

01:56lighter winds so that won't really impact our AccuWeather real field temperatures which is a

02:00good thing because you definitely don't want to be sitting in a stadium with temperatures in the

02:04teens. Here's a look at the overall forecast for the rest of the region on Saturday and yes Chicago

02:09only getting up to 24 degrees.
