While parts of the Upper Midwest and New England may receive snow this weekend, a much bigger portion of the country will face sharply lower temperatures.
Transcript
00:00Across the north central U.S., get ready for some colder air pushing in.
00:04Here's the overall setup for both your Saturday and Sunday.
00:07This big dip you see right here in the jet stream, that is going to provide not only the cold air dropping temperatures,
00:13but it's also going to provide the chance of snow here, especially up to the north, including areas around Minneapolis, Milwaukee, those areas.
00:20Now off to the west, you can see this big ridge of high pressure means warming conditions from south Texas across the entire west coast.
00:27So overall, we're going to see a little bit of a mix in the forecast.
00:31But yes, we're not only talking cold, we're talking snow as well.
00:34Here's the overall potential of snow.
00:35We are tracking across the northern plains, the upper Midwest, the Great Lakes, and into parts of the northeast and New England.
00:42You can see that Saturday, the storm center will be working its way across the Midwest.
00:48As we end on Sunday, it'll be working its way south of the Great Lakes,
00:51and then eventually on Monday, it'll be working its way up towards the northeast and New England.
00:55So that's the potential for snow.
00:57But how much snow are we forecasted to see?
01:01Well, as we have throughout Saturday and Sunday, most of the snowfall totals will be across the Great Lakes here
01:06from northern parts of Indiana, northern parts of Wisconsin, Michigan, all the way through parts of the Great Lakes, primarily in Canada.
01:12That's where we're going to see the heaviest snowfall amounts with our Accu-L local storm max.
01:1715 inches is pretty impressive here for some November snowfall for sure.
01:21But some of these areas, we'll see anywhere between 1 to 3, even in some cases 3 to 6 inches of total snowfall.
01:28So that's going to be pretty good there for just two days' worth of snowfall, including some areas there in Michigan seeing up to a foot of total snow.
01:35So that's the snow.
01:36Now let's talk about the cold.
01:37As we head into Sunday, you're going to see temperatures here, especially in that darker shade of blue, primarily for Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri, temperatures are going to drop 20 to 30 degrees.
01:47So for example, Oklahoma City on Saturday, we'll see temperatures in the 70s.
01:52Oklahoma City on Sunday, we'll see temperatures in the 40s.
01:56So big temperature drop here across this region.
01:59So not only are we tracking colder air, we're tracking some snowfall as well.
