Prime Minister Rowley is in Guyana for the second CARICOM-India Summit.

That's where India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi -- who's on an official visit to Guyana -- announced several ways India hopes to help the region.

And, Dr Rowley has held talks with the Indian Prime Minister, on a number of matters, including national security.

00:00India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Guyana on Tuesday night on an official
00:09visit.
00:14Following the pomp and fanfare, it was time to get down to business on Wednesday at the
00:19second CARICOM India Summit in Georgetown.
00:22India's enhanced engagement in recent years as it demonstrates a genuine eagerness to
00:29fortify our bilateral ties and collaboratively confront pressing issues such as the pervasive
00:38digital divide.
00:40Prime Minister Rowley among those holding an audience with Modi as the Indian Prime
00:45Minister announced a seven-point plan to help CARICOM countries.
00:50We propose that we can help make at least one government building solar powered in each
01:00of the CARICOM countries.
01:02And Prime Minister Modi has offered for India to provide training for 11 female cricketers
01:09from each CARICOM nation.
01:11And there's classroom training as well through the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation
01:17or ITEC program.
01:20I propose an additional 1,000 slots for ITEC scholarships given by India over the next
01:32five years.
01:35Prime Minister Rowley wants a standing committee of CARICOM and India to ensure the proposed
01:41initiatives are implemented.
01:43While Dr. Rowley and Modi reportedly had bilateral talks on strengthening ties in cybersecurity
01:49training, digital transformation and national security.
