00:10General Secretary Rahimul Hussain said ASJA's measured yet profound reservations are rooted in extensive and credible international concerns over the Modi administration's treatment of Muslim minorities.
00:24Hussain said while the organization respects the right of sovereign nations to pursue diplomatic engagement, it's necessary to critically examine PM Modi's political legacy.
00:35The ASJA General Secretary noted that this includes the 2002 Gujarat riots, the Discriminatory Citizenship Amendment Act, the revocation of Kashmir's special constitutional status and the symbolic inauguration of a temple on the site of the demolished Babri Masjid.
00:54He said additionally, quote, Prime Minister Modi has repeatedly employed divisive rhetoric, referring to Muslims as infiltrators in public addresses, thereby fueling Islamophobic sentiment and legitimizing anti-Muslim violence.
01:11His government's recent introduction of the Waqfa Properties Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants Act has further alarmed observers as it risks undermining centuries-old Muslim endowments and eroding institutional religious autonomy, end quote.
01:29The ASJA General Secretary said these actions raised significant concerns among human rights organizations, legal scholars and interfaith communities on the erosion of pluralism and constitutional protections in India.
