At least two residents of HDC's Oasis Gardens development, are calling on the HDC to fix their sewage issues once and for all. The disgusted residents say they've been dealing with sewage overflow onto and into their properties for years, and they know they're not the only ones. We advise that the following images may be upsetting.

00:00So every time we bathe, use water, anything, the waste will just be coming up in the toilet downstairs and the kitchen sink.
00:10So once you bathe anything, if you notice it has tissue and all of that there, that's from the pipe.
00:16At least two residents of HDC's Oasis Gardens development have been contending with this mess of a situation for several years,
00:24this resident says, over the last four years.
00:28HDC attended to the matter numerous times, but never resolved the issue.
00:33When they came back, they cleared the line again, and they actually told me they cannot put the cover, they wouldn't put the cover back on
00:41because once they put the cover and it back up, it will come up in the toilet downstairs, which was happening.
00:48That's unfair, because I just pay $6,838 a month for my instalment.
00:55Why can't I enjoy the comfort of my home?
00:57Meantime, another resident tells TV6 his sewage issue started back in 2017, roughly one year after moving in.
01:05But he says despite numerous complaints, nothing was done.
01:09We reached out to EGC a couple of times, no one ever came.
01:12Then we used to call a plumber, and that is how I ended up figuring by watching him,
01:19how we used to use the snake and push it through the back here.
01:22That is how I ended up coming up with the idea to use the two pipes to unclog it on my own.
01:27What did the plumber tell you, explain to you as to why this has taken place?
01:31Well, he said the lines probably run without a grid, they run flat.
01:36So that is why whenever the stuff comes from upstairs, where you flush, the water would run out quicker than the feces or whatever.
01:47Both residents are mortgage clients.
01:49However, they tell TV6 the sewage issues are a community concern, as other residents face similar challenges.
01:57And as such, they cannot accept the HDC's stance.
02:01So they say that is our problem, we have to fix it on our own.
02:05In a response to the HDC says an investigation revealed that there were no complaints made to the HDC within the defects liability period.
02:14But the HDC notes that it has visited and cleared the sewer lines on several occasions,
02:19and is giving the commitment to continue to do so, to ensure that all residents are comfortable.
02:24The HDC is also reminding all tenants that unsuitable items must not be disposed of in the drains or toilets,
02:32inclusive of, but not limited to, plastic bags, sanitary napkins and other feminine products, and other non-flushable material.
