00:00My dad surprised me on my birthday with two little cars.
00:16I was definitely skeptical that the rats would learn to drive a car at first.
00:22But they were really quick to pick it up.
00:25The middle pedal accelerates it forward, the pedal on the left turns the car to the
00:30left, and the pedal on the right turns the car to the right.
00:35They drive very similar to how a human drives.
00:38Biggest difference is that their eyesight is not good, so they really orient themselves
00:42by smell.
00:43Cusco is definitely the perfectionist with this.
00:47He will keep adjusting the turning until he is sure he is dead on.
00:55Learning how to brake.
00:57Whereas Kronk can be a bit more chaotic.
01:01Kronk will often just push the forward lever and not let go until he gets the treat.
01:08It becomes a bit of a dialogue.
01:11Our rats communicate with us in so many ways just with the time we spend with them.
01:16They definitely show us like everyday how in tune with us they can be.
01:21He loves you.
01:23The best moment is when you see it click.
01:28They do it correct by accident and you can see in their head be like, oh, oh that's it.
01:34It's fully open.
01:35They decide when to enter and exit the vehicle.
01:40They're pretty quick to run and jump in the car and want to drive.
01:46They really come to embody their names.
01:48Kronk is such a bombastic personality.
01:51He just loves cannonballing into the abyss.
01:54On the contrary, Cusco is a little more even keel.
01:57Cusco is like, I don't think so.
02:01After we got Cusco and Kronk, we became rat obsessed.
02:09I also just noticed there's a cat tree behind you.
02:12Oh, you mean the rat tree?
02:14Yes, of course.
02:16Got different toys here and the rats absolutely love this one.
02:19We have a bunch of different puzzle boxes.
02:20My dog literally has the same one.
02:22That's amazing.
02:23We've also got these big boxes of wine, which we've created mazes out of.
02:28Really excited about this.
02:29We're just creating a speed climbing wall in homage to the Olympics.
02:33Well, we'll see how that one goes.
02:35That's awesome.
02:36It's the rat's world.
02:37We just live in it.
02:40They're not with us for a long time, so we want to be sure that it's for a really good
02:45time.
02:46I developed such a unique relationship with each of them.
02:52Their personalities have really shown me how capable, affectionate and nurturing they are.
02:59I really didn't think I could care so much for a small creature like a rat.
