The San Fernando Licensing Committee has approved an application for the hosting of a dancehall concert scheduled for this weekend, despite objections filed by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.

However, the police filed an immediate appeal on Thursday.

00:20Roughly 130 officers are needed to cover the event.
00:24However, the Licensing Committee overruled the objection today on the basis of insufficient evidence.
00:29But police sources note that this does not guarantee that the event will proceed as planned,
00:35as the police have already filed an appeal, which should be heard tomorrow.
00:39The November Freeze concert series is scheduled to be held at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Taruba on Saturday
00:45and is set to feature Jamaican artists such as Govanna, Najiri and Chronic Low.
00:51Most recently, the Funstop Birthday Bash at Betham Gardens for Ansel Villafana, also known as Chemist,
00:57as well as the birthday party for Keman Six, were both cancelled after similar action was taken by the police.
