00:00Tobago business owners and officials at the Port of Spain port met for talks on Wednesday.
00:05The parties met for talks on issues with shipping goods from Port of Spain to Scarborough.
00:10Business owners and operators say in September,
00:13they were told to remove their containers from a specific area of the port.
00:18Somewhere around the 26th of September, indicating that they wanted the area
00:24because they have some works that they did and in order to bring the Cabo Star back to
00:29its original space for loading to accommodate the cruise ships so that we don't have any
00:36shipping problems during the cruise ship season that we would have had four days to remove our
00:41containers. Haddad says coming out of the meeting, the parties involved have agreed to work together
00:48to resolve the issues in the area of the port where containerized operations take place.
00:53And we have agreed to measure the space to facilitate both the containerized operation
01:00and the turning of trucks to go to the Cabo Star. So we need to have that done like almost
01:07immediate. So we are going to work on that immediately and we will take it from there
01:11and see what happens in the future. Amcham TNT, the Energy Chamber,
01:16the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the TTME have issued a joint statement
01:21calling on the government of Trinidad and Tobago to urgently take whatever action necessary
01:26to immediately resolve the ongoing industrial action causing chaos at the Port of Port of Spain.
01:32The joint chambers said in their statement today that the lack of affirmative action on this matter
01:37is leading to a national crisis at a most inopportune time of the year when the volume
01:42of shipments is typically at its highest and makes it imperative that the port operates efficiently.
