00:00A home-based micro bakery in Glasgow has been crowned the winner of Scotland's best croissant
00:04competition. Maple Leaf Bakery came out on top of a strong field of competitors who were judged on
00:09shape, colour, pastry development, texture and taste. Rebecca who runs the bakery said she is
00:14completely overwhelmed at the reception as it was an intimidatingly knowledgeable and skilled panel
00:19of judges so it felt exposing opening yourself up to that kind of scrutiny. She said the Scottish
00:24baking community made it a lovely experience and it was a great experience to meet other bakers.
00:29The competition was organised by the Edinburgh Butter Company and took place at the Balmoral
00:34Hotel in Edinburgh in late October where Bridge of Allen Bakery Haven took home second place.
00:39Judges said that while the room was brimmed in artisan talent, Maple Leaf's croissant really
00:44stood out and it was unanimously agreed she'd won the trophy. We tried the famous croissant
00:48here in the office earlier and can definitely vouch for its quality. They were enjoyed by our
00:52whole team, they looked perfect, smelled amazing, they were very sweet and buttery in taste and has
00:57a soft chewy texture.
