The National Petroleum Company has refuted claims made by President of the Petroleum Dealers Association Robin Narayansingh.

Narayansingh accused NP's employees of being "corrupt, wasteful and uncaring," among other things.

00:00The Trinidad and Tobago National Petroleum Marketing Company Limited, NP, says the comments
00:06made by the President of the Petroleum Dealers Association, Robin Naran Singh, are unfounded.
00:12NP's response is in reference to Naran Singh, who in a media report allegedly stated that
00:17NP has created a culture of wastage.
00:20He is also quoted saying,
00:22They don't care whether a gas station has gas, whether communities are out of gas, as
00:27long as they could extract money from the company.
00:30The workers are corrupted inside of there."
00:33However NP is highlighting what it calls the diligence and dedication of its employees,
00:39who ensure on a daily basis that all service stations receive and provide fuel when needed
00:44to the relevant catchment areas and communities.
00:47Opinions have been shared on the recent resignation of NP's Chief Executive Officer, Derek
00:52Lukpat, who served in that office post for only one year.
00:57Oilfield Workers' Trade Union's Chief Education and Research Officer, Ossie Warwick, expressed
01:02the belief that Lukpat's immediate resignation should raise more questions about the board.
01:08But NP says that statement is completely unfounded and without any factual basis.
01:13The company also notes that Lukpat's resignation was tended to the Board of Directors on November
01:181.
01:19The company has been criticized for failing to publish its financial statements for the
01:22past three to five years.
01:24However, the company indicates that its audited financial statements for the past financial
01:28year, ended in March 2023, is currently in progress.
