Members of the public are reporting a shortage of cooking gas across the country, however NP says there is no shortage of supply. Meantime, distributors of LPG tell TV6, some form of industrial action by NP workers is at the root of the problem.

00:00LPG distributors say that in many cases their truck drivers are not being
00:05supplied with cylinders and in other cases they are receiving but well below
00:10their quota. Distributors say this action has been ongoing for the past three
00:15weeks putting their businesses on the line adding that wholesalers such as
00:21minimarts and supermarkets not to mention the general public have been
00:25feeling the brunt of the action. TV6 News visited NP at Sealots today and
00:30found several truck drivers who corroborated this information with one
00:35driver saying that he had been waiting since Friday but had not been given any
00:39gas as workers were demonstrating their dissatisfaction with the company's 4%
00:45wage increase offer but OWTU which represents the workers maintains that
00:51the workers are not engaged in strike action.
01:21In an official response NP says its subsidiary Natpet
01:43Investments Company Limited which fills LPG cylinders is currently in wage
01:48negotiations with the union but notes that the plant continues to operate
01:53during its normal hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
01:56however NP assures that it has activated measures to ensure reliable supply of
02:02LPG to the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. Ranessa Cutting TV6 News
