A Sri Lankan national was killed after jumping from a pedestrian bridge in an attempt to evade immigration inspection at the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex in Johor Baru on Thursday (Oct 31).

00:00A foreigner was killed after jumping from a pedestrian bridge
00:09in an attempt to evade immigration inspection in Johor on Thursday.
00:13The incident happened at the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar Customs
00:17Immigration and Quarantine Complex in Johor Bahru at about 4.25 pm.
00:22Johor Bahru South OCPD Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the victim,
00:27who was a Sri Lankan factory worker in his 30s,
00:30was believed to have jumped from the pedestrian bridge
00:33connecting the complex to Johor Bahru Central.
00:36He said the police believed that the victim
00:38was attempting to avoid immigration checks at the complex.
00:42He said there were no criminal elements found in the incident
00:46and the case had been classified as sudden death.
00:49The victim was pronounced dead by the medics at the scene
00:52and his remains had been taken to Hospital Sultana Amina for autopsy.
