00:00Well the West Indies are hoping to build on the positives from the Sri Lanka
00:03series which they lost to one. Shafane Rutherford and Evan Lewis both
00:08registered standout performances and they are aiming to do so again when they
00:12meet England in the first ODI tomorrow. Well it's great to see Shafane doing
00:17what he's doing he's been working really hard for the last few years and to see
00:21those rewards he's getting I'm very happy for him and the same goes for
00:24Evan he's been out for quite some time and the way he came back with the bang
00:27this is a real confidence booster for all of us as batters in the team so it's
00:32a great look for us I think that we can use some of those positive performances
00:36that we had in Sri Lanka and transfer them here into this this home series and
00:39try to defend home court again. They will be coming up against Liam Livingstone
00:43who is pleased with the opportunity to lead the English. Certainly as a kid
00:47growing up you always dream of a captain in your country so yeah when I got the
00:52call the other week pretty easy decision to make but yeah like I said
00:58we've got a really young group we've got a lot of fresh faces that are new to to
01:02not only English cricket but international cricket so yeah it's quite
01:07an exciting series for me to be able to lead the way and hopefully create an
01:12environment for them young boys to flourish. The West Indies have enjoyed a
01:16success against England in the last ODI series which they won 2-1. Hope
01:21believes it may be a little more than luck. Some of us just think that we find
01:25a way I think that there's always a different buzz whether we play against
01:29England. We always love playing at home so I think it's something that we always
01:33strive to defend home court. I just think the way we've prepped the way we
01:38planned we just need to continue executing and then the rest will take
01:42care of itself all the results will take care of itself. England's team will feature a few
01:45new players and Livingstone believes it's a chance for them to earn their
01:49spots. Yeah I think that's one of our goals in the next three weeks is to
01:55expose people to international cricket like I said before there's a lot of
02:00people that have been in and around squads that haven't really played so
02:03that's certainly something that we're going to do we're going to try and
02:06rotate our team as much as we possibly can give people opportunities and that's
02:10the really exciting part for me is being able to to lead the way for some
02:14youngsters to be able to create an environment that they're going to come
02:18into and feel at home and express their talent in international cricket so yeah
02:23there's going to be a lot of debuts over the next few weeks and yeah I guess
02:27that's a really exciting thing for English cricket we've got some talent
02:30coming through. Shemron Hetmaya will be returning to the Wendy's team as well
02:34Hope says he would do well to score some runs. He's a class act everyone in the world
02:39knows that he's a quality player just just his personality I think gives him
02:44that edge going out there and playing the way he does he's such a talented
02:48batter and then when you have that carefree mindset and if you mesh those
02:52two together then it's almost unstoppable and you've seen in all three
02:57formats what he can do and being back in the team I'm sure he's always
03:02hungry to play for West Indies so when he gets the opportunity I'm sure he's
03:07gonna go ahead and show the world what he's capable of again. Tomorrow's day
03:10night fixture begins at 2 p.m. Sergio Dufour, TV6 Port
