00:00There are loads of things to do in and around the city of Bristol this Halloween season.
00:06Let's chat to locals to find out what they will get up to.
00:10We used to do trick and treat and things like that but I think in those days it wasn't nearly
00:15as popular as it is now. Because I can remember many, many years ago going out to the States
00:21on holiday because I have family there and buying costumes for my grandchildren because
00:25they hadn't even started doing it over here.
00:30There are two unseen worlds. There's one which is God, the Trinity, Father, Son and Spirit
00:41and the other one is Satan and all his hordes and that's it. You look at it, it's everywhere
00:46isn't it? And it's been down through history. Stonehenge, I've worked in the Middle East
00:52and you've got there Islamic buildings that are just covered in, you know, it's, yeah.
01:04But what traditions do locals enjoy doing in the autumn in the city of Bristol?
01:10I used to, yeah, I mean I don't now because I've just got beyond it I think and it's all
01:15a bit too busy for me and getting in there can be a bit of a hassle. But there's so much
01:22to do. I mean, you go down into Bristol, it's the main part, there's so much there
01:27quite honestly. And as I say, when the kids were younger and the grandchildren were younger,
01:32yeah, museums, the harbourside, everything, there was always something going on.
01:39Not particularly, no, not really, not really. No, I think I would say distinctly not. It
01:48would be special if we did.
01:51So I am here with Adriana from Bristol World. So can you tell me what kind of things are
01:56on in the city of Bristol to celebrate halftime and spooky season?
02:01Well, there's loads of Halloween themed things to do around the city over halftime. From
02:06taking the trip to pick your own pumpkins at Avon Valley Country Park, to their evening
02:11screen parks called Fear that allows visitors to immerse themselves in a theatrical horror
02:17experience. For those wanting to travel further afield, you can discover the chilling universe
02:23of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein as part of their sprint tinkling immersive attraction
02:29that is all within her haunted house. For those who love the maritime history of the
02:35city, there's a terrifying turnip trail at the SS Great Britain, which features glowing
02:42turnips around the dockyard and ship, as well as fun facts about Victorian Halloween traditions.
02:49Families can also settle in for a new spine chilling storytelling experience with a costumed
02:55Victorian sharing ghostly tales on board.
