00:00This was the final of the Republic Band CPL with defending champions Guyana
00:04Amazon Warriors being put in a bat by St. Lucia Kings at the Providence Stadium.
00:07Carey Pear struck early by having Ramanula Gurbar scored by
00:12Captain Faf duplicy for no score. Shea Hope struck four boundaries in his knock-off 22.
00:20But the Amazon Warriors kept losing wickets and was soon 54-4
00:28with Noor Ahmed doing major damage. Make that 88 for six with the Kings in the ascendancy.
00:37Ahmed ended with three by having Raymond Reefer leg before cheaply. It was only given after DRS
00:49showed three reds and the dreaded finger had to go up. Dwayne Pretorius played a cameo top
00:56scoring with 25. He fell in the final over as Guyana Amazon Warriors were restricted to 138 for
01:05eight from 20 overs. When St. Lucia Kings responded Skipper Faf duplicy and Johnson Charles put on
01:1423 for the first wicket. Charles was gone for 7 followed by duplicy for 21, 45 for 2. More trouble
01:25as it became 51-4 with the dismissal of Tim Seifert for three. After struggling at one stage
01:33Aaron Jones and Roston Chase made the most of the 16th over that was bowled by Moeen Ali. Ali
01:41conceded 27 runs in that over and the Amazon Warriors were under immense pressure. Then
01:49Jones scored 20 runs in the following over with Pretorius being pummeled. With one to win it was
01:59an anticlimactic finish as a wide from captain Imran Tahir did the trick. The St. Lucia Kings
02:04reached 139 for four from 18.1 overs to win by six wickets. Jones was unbeaten on 48 of 31 balls
02:12while Chase made 39 not out of 22 deliveries. Then came the unbridled celebrations as the players
02:19were in their glee. St. Lucia Kings are the 2024 Republic Bank CPL champions this being their
02:26maiden title. Vinod Nawani, T6 Sport.
