People of London: ‘I want to see initiatives to keep kids off the street’

We ask Londoners what can be done to reduce crime rates.

00:00I'd like to see more done to prevent crime. I'd like to see more initiatives

00:06for the young people to keep them off the streets, you know, going back

00:12decades where there were places for children to go rather than roaming the

00:16streets and committing crime. Yeah, I'd like to see more initiatives to prevent

00:20crime and to prevent young people going into gangs and I'd like to see more of

00:26that. Yes, definitely. Well, it's difficult, isn't it? I mean, there's been such deep

00:31cuts to all our services in the last 10 years and hopefully things will get

00:36better and there'll be more money put into resources for fighting crime and so

00:41on. But I think it's also really interesting that obviously the prisons

00:44are full and hopefully we'll be having some different policies to find

00:50different ways of not just punishing criminals but rehabilitating them as

00:56well. So I think it's going to be a very interesting time over the next few years, actually.
