00:06unsafe residents feel. Researchers at King's College London compared public perceptions

00:11with official crime data. They found people thought 30% of Londoners had experienced a

00:16crime in the year September 2025. The actual figure was 12.2%.

00:22Half of those surveyed thought London had the highest violent crime rates in England and Wales.

00:27The study actually found that it had the lowest. But some offences have increased,

00:33including shoplifting and theft from people. 37% of Londoners say they do not feel safe walking

00:40alone locally after dark.
