00:00Nine months after Calvin Lee, alias Tyson, a man accused of being the Six Boss gang leader,
00:06was held by police and charged with the possession of firearm and ammunition to be used in gang
00:11activity and being a gang leader, he was exonerated of those charges after Master Shibiki Kasabor
00:18dismissed the matters at the Port of Spain Hall of Justice after a virtual hearing.
00:23Lee, who was represented by Senior Counsel Pamela Elder, told the court that the police
00:27were making a mockery of Ajipo, which essentially abolishes preliminary inquiries for indictable
00:32matters that are now sent directly to High Court.
00:35The prosecution indicated that they had not filed an indictment and needed more time.
00:39Tyson, who didn't want his face shown, said he spent several months in jail on these charges
00:45even though he maintained his innocence.
00:48He had been held outside his home in St. Paul Street in Port of Spain in January this year.
00:52I stayed in Carinara Station for like five days.
00:57The fifth day they come, they say they have a gun and they charge me for gang association
01:05and gang-related things.
01:08Where did they say they found this gun?
01:09On me.
01:10They said they get it on me.
01:11But the night when they hold me, they never cry, no gun in the station, they just drop
01:15me in the station and put me in the cell.
01:18The gun come five days after.
01:21He said he was wary of the police constantly targeting him for alleged illicit activities.
01:27So I just fell up with the police and they just targeting my life and just making me
01:33uncomfortable because it's not the first time this happened.
01:36I have an ex-gun case going on.
01:38When they come in my house here, if you could watch, you could see cameras all over my house,
01:43all in my bedroom.
01:44My girlfriend can't even come and lie with me in peace because of these police.
01:51So they come in my house and they give me a gun.
01:53So this case where we're in here is a second case where they come the second time and give
01:57me a next gun.
01:59Lee said while he was locked up for months, police were gathering their evidence against
02:03him when they were actually supposed to do the opposite before arresting him.
02:08With the ongoing gang warfare allegedly between the 6th Gang and 7th Gang, Lee said he wanted
02:13that image of him being pinpointed as a gang leader expunged.
02:18I just want them to take off the label off of him, you know.
02:21What is that label?
02:22The label, the gang leader, gang running this, the 6th, whatever number.
02:29I don't know what more than I do music.
02:33Mark Besant, TV6 News.
