00:00Early Sunday, Russia's defense ministry announced that its air defense systems successfully intercepted nearly 160 Ukrainian drones across 15 regions, including two over Moscow.
00:12This marks one of the largest coordinated drone attacks on Russia since the war began.
00:17In an official statement, the ministry said, during the night, the Kiev regime attempted a terrorist attack using drones against targets in Russian territory,
00:26but air defense systems on duty successfully intercepted and destroyed 158 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones.
00:33The majority of these drones were reportedly downed in the border regions of Kursk, Bryansk, Voronezh, and Belgorod.
00:41This air assault follows just days after over 200 Russian drones and missiles targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, marking one of the largest such attacks to date.
00:52It's also been nearly a month since Ukrainian forces launched a surprise cross-border offensive into the southwestern Kursk region.
01:00Closer to Moscow, reports indicate that a coal-fired power plant and a gas-promont oil refinery were among the targets hit during Sunday's large-scale drone attack.
01:10Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed on Telegram that another drone damaged a technical room at the Moscow refinery after crashing.
01:18At the moment, a small fire is being put out.
01:22In the central Tver region, authorities reported that at least five drones were downed near the Konnikovo thermal power station.
01:29An unverified video circulating online appears to show a drone crashing into the plant, resulting in a large explosion.
01:37The attacks also caused disruptions across Russia, with dozens of flights delayed or rerouted overnight, according to the RBC Business News outlet.
01:46Both Russia and Ukraine have escalated their strikes on each other's energy infrastructure in recent months, with Kiev aiming to weaken Moscow's military capabilities.
