Although official confirmation from both Ukraine and Russia is pending, military analysts believe the destruction of these bridges could isolate Russian troops along a broad stretch of the border. This would cut off vital re-supply routes and reinforcements, as Ukrainian forces continue to advance from the east, tightening their encirclement of Russian troops.

The reported destruction of the third bridge comes nearly two weeks after Ukrainian forces launched a ground incursion into Russia's Kursk region. This marks the largest invasion of Russian territory since World War II. Russian media reports that hundreds of thousands of civilians have been ordered to evacuate the area.

In his nightly address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy hinted at the broader goals of this operation. He spoke of creating a "buffer zone on the aggressor's territory," echoing the justifications used by Russian President Vladimir Putin for his own offensive into Ukraine's Kharkiv region earlier this summer. Zelenskyy's comments suggest that Kyiv may aim to hold Russian territory to protect Ukraine and potentially use it as leverage in future peace negotiations.

The bridge in question crossed the Seym River in Russia's Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces have reportedly taken control of around 80 settlements. Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleschuk confirmed the strike, stating that it would severely impact Russia's logistical capabilities. In a video shared on Telegram, smoke is seen rising from the bridge, with damage evident on its surface.

Oleschuk also highlighted the precision of Ukrainian pilots in targeting Russian strongholds, equipment, and crucial supply routes. Just days earlier, another bridge on the same river was similarly destroyed, further crippling Russia's ability to sustain its military operations in the region.
