00:00Come Sunday September 29th at 4 p.m. the 2024 Friendship 7k road race will be
00:07taking place to partly honor the 50th year of diplomatic relations between
00:11Trinidad and Tobago and China. The starting point is different from the
00:15previous year. It is proposed that this year's road race will begin at the
00:20Queen's Park Savannah near Albion Street. An entrance will proceed along the
00:26Savannah and then along the streets of downtown Port Spain through Chinatown
00:30and the race ends at the Queen's Park Savannah. Evolution timing will be the
00:35official race director. Organizers are promising service designed to help
00:39runners accomplish their goals. I want to let you know that our duty of care to
00:46you has not changed. We have ambulance and first aiders on
00:51standby to assist race entrance. Volunteers and drink stations with cold
00:56water will be stationed along the route to help runners achieve the goals of the
01:01race. This year the registration fee for the 7k road race is a mere $135. Our
01:10registration platform will launch on Friday August 2nd. As for the prizes
01:16Nicholas Romany wins again he will get $3,000. Second place gets $2,000 and
01:23the third $1,000. The Port of Spain Mayor Chinua Allin says staff and the
01:29technical officials will ensure the route is clean and safe. I've seen in the
01:34audience a few members of staff of the corporation. They are the ones that will
01:39be doing all of the hard work in collaboration with the race organizers to
01:44ensure that the route is clean and that the activity is a safe activity. Romany
01:52was thankful for the opportunity to defend the crown and for the opportunity
01:57given to him to compete in Barbados. Competing in Barbados was hands-down the
02:01most thrilling experience in my entire racing career thus far. I competed in the
02:06one mile, the 10k and half marathon races on back-to-back days. I emerged the
02:12champion in all three races and became the first Trinidadian to ever accomplish
02:17this. Time will tell if he regains his title come September 29th as new
