Transcript
00:00Hi, I'm digital reporter Amy Seddon, and this evening I've been invited to test out the newly renovated Viva Brazil in Liverpool.
00:09It's a Brazilian barbecue restaurant best known for its rodizio, which offers unlimited barbecued meat.
00:15But I'll be going with my vegetarian partner, so I'm intrigued to see how they'll cater to him.
00:20There also isn't a restaurant chain like this in Lancashire, so let's find out if it's worth travelling to.
00:28If you're travelling via train, Viva Brazil is just a 13 minute walk from Lime Street station,
00:34and is located on Castle Street, which is home to many popular bars and restaurants.
00:39Viva Brazil is housed in an impressive Grade II listed building, so from its exterior appearance I was already expecting great things.
00:47Inside is equally impressive, well decorated, bright and modern, with nods to the Brazilian culture.
00:54The atmosphere was also relaxed and welcoming.
00:57We were led to our table by a friendly waiter, and our orders were taken quickly.
01:02Whether you were enjoying a full rodizio like myself, or an a la carte meal like my boyfriend,
01:08you all got access to the unlimited salad bar, which had a great variety of hot carby sides, cold meats and cheese, and salad options.
01:17This was my starter plate, featuring items just from the salad bar.
01:21Waiters then walk around with barbecued meats, which they carve for you on your table if you have a green card faced up.
01:28I thought this was a fun experience, and in total I tried 7 different meats out of a possible 14.
01:34My favourite was the honey pork.
01:36Here you can see the pork, garlic steak and items from the salad bar, including chicken stew.
01:42This is then my boyfriend's halloumi steak, with sautéed new potatoes and green beans, which he absolutely loved.
01:49For drink, we couldn't resist the caipirinhas on 2 for £14.
01:54We tried all 4 flavours, kiwi, watermelon, acai and guava, and they were all delicious.
02:00Then for dessert, we shared a portion of churros, and they were the best I've had in a long time.
02:06Overall, I was impressed by Viva Brazil.
02:09It exceeded my expectations in terms of both atmosphere, menu options and the food itself.
02:15I was recommended to go for the full rodizio, and whilst I enjoyed the variety of meat on offer, I didn't need unlimited amounts.
02:23One slice of each would have been more than enough.
02:26My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach.
02:28I started off by taking 2 slices of each meat that was offered to me, but I ended up being too full to 1. try half the meats, and 2. to fully appreciate the salad bar.
02:39Because to be honest, that unlimited salad bar was the highlight for both of us.
02:44I particularly loved the caesar salad, the garlic mash and the pork scratchings.
02:49The majority of things at the salad bar were vegetarian, which pleased my boyfriend.
02:54He also told me his halloumi steaks were some of the best he'd ever had, and he wants to go again to see if the other vegetarian options are just as good.
03:03He won't have to twist my arm.
03:05Good atmosphere, great food and cocktails on offer, Viva Brazil is definitely worth the occasional visit to treat yourself.
