Leeds parks and green spaces awarded Green Flag status

Nine parks and green spaces in Leeds have been awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award 2024.

00:10The areas that have been recognised include Golden Acre Park, Kirkstall Abbey, Middleton

00:15Park, Otley-Shevan Forest Park, Pudsey Park, Roundy Park and Temple Newsome Estate, which

00:21are all managed by Leeds City Council and have been recognised as among the best in

00:25the country.

00:27All seven parks and green spaces awarded the Green Flag are considered vital for Leeds

00:31communities, bringing people together and providing opportunities to lead healthy lifestyles.

00:37The Yorkshire part of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal has also been given Green Flag status,

00:42along with Leeds Beckett University's Headingley Campus.

00:45The Green Flag Awards scheme is managed by Keep Britain Tidy, and it recognises and rewards

00:50well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management

00:55of green spaces across the UK and around the world.
