The Universe Boss Chris Gayle showed he's still big bad and heavy as he smashed 70 off 40 balls to power the West Indies Champions to a six wicket win in the World Championship of Legends.

West Indies picked up their first victory over the winless South Africa Champions after chasing down the Proteas total of 174/5.

Chadwick Walton gave Gayle good support as smashed an unbeaten 56 to take the Caribbean men over the hurdle in the final over.
Transcript
00:00Neither the West Indies champions nor the South African champions had registered a victory
00:05going into their third match, but the West Indies legends would be sharp from the very
00:09start.
00:10They'll have to hurry, a direct hit, that's very close.
00:15West Indies think they've got their man, and it's Neil McKenzie.
00:20Well, he sent it upstairs to Neil Baines, and I don't think he has to, because I reckon
00:25McKenzie's gone by a couple of yards, yeah, it's a dreadful call from Richard Lee.
00:29Captain Jack Callis and Richard Levy would get things going for the Proteas, before Levy
00:36was the second run out victim, with a score on 32.
00:45Callis showed he's still a dangerous customer despite his age.
00:53And Samuel Badri would get him to present a catch on 18.
00:59South Africa's middle and lower order would get things going for them, as JP Dumeney and
01:06Ashwell Prince would put together 32 for the fourth wicket.
01:10Prince would remain unbeaten on 46, but a cameo of 44 of 17 from Dane Vias would make
01:15the difference, as the South Africa champions would close on a challenging total of 174
01:22for five of their 20 overs.
01:27But would 175 be enough?
01:29Maybe not, as the West Indies champions have the universe boss Chris Gale as captain.
01:37And with Dwayne Smith alongside him, runs were flowing.
01:43The pair had the Caribbean man ahead of the asking rate, losing their first wicket at
01:4765 in the 9th over.
01:52Gale showing he's a sprinter to raise his half century.
02:05With Chadwick Walton holding his own, both men would take the match away from South Africa
02:10with a 59 run stand.
02:14Gale would eventually give way on 70 or 40 balls, with the Caribbean man 124 for 2.
02:20Despite losing a couple more wickets, West Indies were on course for victory.
02:28Walton's unbeaten 56 more than enough to take them to victory at 175 for 4, with 5 balls
02:34to spare.
02:35West Indies champions winning by 6 wickets to get off the mark in the World Championship
02:40of Legends.
