00:00The final first round pick of this NBA draft is a man out of
00:07Creighton by way of South Dakota State Baylor Shireman. He
00:11makes his way to Boston. In 2 years, JY at CU led the Blue Jays
00:17to success in the NCAA tournament. Considered a
00:21prospect that ticks many boxes as he looks to take the next
00:24step into the National Basketball Association. Do you
00:28like what the Celtics did with the 30th overall pick? Wing
00:32depth and scoring. Check, check. So, a team that can shoot the
00:39ball like no one's business when they got one of the best
00:43pure shooters in the draft. Good luck second and in that
00:46second unit when you got Peyton Pritchard, then you got
00:49this guy Shireman and you got Sam Housers, the three guys, all
00:52of them can shoot it lights out. Al Horford can shoot it from
00:55three. It's it just speaks to how smart Brad Stevens is to
01:00looking at his roster and saying, we could do this,
01:03especially shoot the ball. How can we do it better? And they
01:08definitely did that by getting Baylor Shireman who could
01:11knock down shots, has a decent handle, not a great athlete, but
01:15the ability to just stand, shoot, or bring him off screens,
01:20clean footwork coming off of it. This is a really good pick
01:23for Boston at the end of the first round. It's hard not to
01:26like it. I think Shireman's ability to check a number of
01:30boxes, right? Not necessarily breakthrough, right? I'm not
01:34telling you he's a great defender. I'm telling you he's
01:35a great passer but he's passable in either scenario.
01:39Pretty good rebounder and as coach said, this is a guy who's
01:43shooting ability you trust and on the Boston Celtics who set
01:46records for three-point percentages, attempts, makes.
01:51That's just an automatic fit. Yeah. And I think drafting,
01:54this is kind of where it's different. We just talked about
01:57Terrence Shannon, right? And I also might prefer to Shireman
01:59the prospect to Shannon Junior but the Baylor played, you
02:03know, Baylor Shireman playing five years but it just fits a
02:05little bit better for me in Boston than maybe Shannon Junior
02:08does in Minnesota. However, I kind of think Flip would have
02:13been the pick here because the one smart money team need coach
02:16didn't allude to and he's right. They just checked two
02:18out of three boxes is a floor spacing five. I think what as
02:23what is such a separator for Boston is that any moment
02:26they're up there, you look at the line and be like, oh wow,
02:29everyone can shoot, right? Unless, you know, the Luke
02:30Cornette backup minutes there, right? But KP and Al Horford
02:34are such game changers. Yeah. And we know Flip can stretch
02:37the floor and I just think you put him in Boston system. So, I
02:41like Baylor Shireman. I'm not telling you that this is a
02:44slam dunk home run pick.
