00:00Let's say for some bizarre reason you have a dad, and your dad comes home from work one day and says that you're stupid, that you're ugly, and that he never loved you.
00:11These are horrible things to say.
00:14Do you think he said those things because he actually meant them?
00:19Do you think he's a guy that's just really, really happy with his life?
00:24He loves his job, he loves his wife, he loves the number that shows up in his bank account.
00:31And he just legitimately hates you.
00:34Or is it more likely that the father is having a really, really bad day?
00:41And had he had a good day, he would not have come home and said those things to you.
00:48If you guys have a girlfriend or a boyfriend or a husband or a wife or other close relation, and they say something absolutely horrible to you,
00:57I hope you first ask yourself how that individual is feeling when they say those things.
01:04If you really are the only problem in their life, if even a problem at all.
01:12I hope you learn not to take everything so personally.
01:16When many things aren't really even about us.
