Glasgow’s own German style lager supplier West Brewery prepare for Scotland vs Germany at the Euros

West Brewery in Glasgow’s East End create German style lager and are getting screens in place for the Euros.

00:04 I think the wonderful thing about our beer is the diversity of the range, you know.

00:09 We've got something for everyone. I don't think I've ever met someone who doesn't enjoy a Pennis Amungo.

00:15 We've got some really classic German-style beer like Heidi Weiss or Hefeweizen.

00:20 We've got a Dark Lager, Dunkel.

00:23 And then we've got some really nice kind of modern interpretations

00:26 that you probably wouldn't find in, you know, German brewery.

00:30 We've got Pale Ale and we've also got a Pilsner, which yes, is a German-style,

00:36 but our version of it is very much a modern interpretation of that.

00:40 So, you know, I'd welcome anyone who's not been out to come and try it.

00:44 We launched two Radlers last year, which are going great guns,

00:48 and we actually use them in our cocktails as well.

00:50 So, if anyone's never had a beer cocktail, you know, I'll vouch for them

00:55 because they're doing so, so well.

00:57 But yeah, I think, you know, we're looking forward to the Euros.

01:03 I think it's going to be great for Scotland and Glasgow as a whole.

01:08 You know, and hopefully there'll be plenty of pints of West Drank here, innit?

01:12 So, first game is Germany-Scotland. That could be the party of parties here.

01:16 We're working on the finer details, but I think venue-wide, that day's just going to be crazy.

01:23 We'll probably put some screens. We're obviously not a TV venue,

01:27 but we're looking to put some screens into the beer hall as well.

01:30 So, we'll have pretty much full venue-wide for that opening match.

01:37 As well as that, we turned 18 in March, so we've got some plans of doing a festival

01:41 at the end of the summer, which will be great.

01:44 And we've also launched a limited range of beers this year.

01:49 So, we've got one out just now, our Kulsch still beer, which is synonymous with the city of Cologne.

01:56 Summer, we'll see us bring in a Berliner Weiss, and then we've got a Vienna Lager early autumn.

02:02 So, lots happening here. Just a really exciting year ahead.

02:07 Any particular favourites for you if you're launching football this summer?

02:11 I would say, well, Mats, I think we do have a beer for every occasion and for every taste.

02:15 I think we've got such a broad portfolio. My taste in beer goes with the weather,

02:20 goes with the mood. If it's nice and hot in the middle of the afternoon, I would be having a Radler.

02:24 In the deep darkness of winter, I quite like a pint of Black. It just goes with the flow.
