00:05Hello and welcome to another video. Today I will be unboxing this, or just unwrapping it.
00:10This is a Japanese Game Boy Pocket, so it's a small console.
00:14So it's a small handheld console.
00:17So it's a small version of the original Game Boy.
00:19So handheld console.
00:22This one is red of course.
00:24Basically since it's a small you can actually fit in your pocket.
00:27This one actually uses two AAA batteries to pair it.
00:30So let's open this up and have a look at it.
00:33It's already torn here so let's open it up.
01:01So cosmetically there's a few little blemishes.
01:04There's a bit of a stain there, I'm not sure where that is.
01:07Got a bit of a shiny and metallic fish sticker.
01:14Looks like there's also a bit of dirt just underneath the bun as well.
01:18And a couple of scratches just on the cover from the top of the screen.
01:21So as you can see it says Game Boy Pocket.
01:24Got a power indicator.
01:25The cartridge of course goes in the back.
01:28It's not showing up but there we go.
01:30So there's a few different issues.
01:32So a bit of folding and deformation and scratches on the label on the back.
01:38Some more to it down here.
01:41So we've got a battery cover.
01:44On the bottom we've got our headphone jack and our DC 3V here.
01:48It's a very small barrel jack.
01:50I haven't seen one that's small before.
01:54And of course on the top we've got a power button.
01:56On the left hand side we have the external communication port.
01:59Plus the volume controls.
02:02And on the right we have our contrast.
02:06So that changes how bright or dark the screen is.
02:09It looks like, I'm not sure if it's supposed to have that notch taken out of it.
02:14That's part of its damage.
02:16We've got that as well.
02:19Let's put some batteries in and try it out.
02:25That's one battery.
02:30And two.
02:34Put that in.
02:35Of course let's turn it on.
02:37So red light comes on when it turns on.
02:41And of course because your cartridge doesn't actually start off with anything.
02:45It's got the black bar there.
02:47That's where the Nintendo logo would go if you actually had a cartridge inserted.
02:53So here's the cartridge, Tamagotchi 2.
02:59This inserts like it would on the original Gameboy.
03:05And then we turn the switch.
03:09Almost reading Nintendo.
03:11So that means the cartridge isn't inserted properly.
03:15Since I know the cartridge fires probably a bit of oxidation on the connection.
03:19So let's take it out and put it in a few times.
03:22Hopefully I can scratch off any closure or oxidation on the top of the pins.
03:27One thing to know that is different about this compared to an original Gameboy.
03:32Is that the original Gameboy wanted to have the power on.
03:35It had it all apart.
03:38And by flicking the power switch.
03:40Since it was back here where the game was.
03:43It would move all of these plastic out into this notch.
03:45To stop you from moving the cartridge.
03:47Of course with this one since that isn't there.
03:49You can just pull.
03:52And then just pull it out.
03:54At least you could.
03:55If you had two hands to actually do it.
03:59A bit hard to remove with one hand.
04:01There we go.
04:03So just pull that straight out.
04:05I had to sort of brace it so I could actually get enough grip.
04:09Because it is quite hard to pull out.
04:11It's a bit of a tight fit.
04:14Turn off that one.
04:16Hopefully that has fixed it.
04:17And there we go.
04:19We've got the Nintendo logo now.
04:22And it's loading into the game.
04:24One small issue is we've got this horizontal line here.
04:28Which is all white.
04:30So there is no colour.
04:32That's probably the issue with the ribbon cable inside.
04:35That could probably be fixed rather easily.
04:38Now here is the contrast knob.
04:40Let's see.
04:42As you can see it's completely black.
04:44And now it's completely no colour at all.
04:48If I put it very dark.
04:51That broken line will stand up quite a lot.
05:00So you can still see it here where it should start.
05:20Let's put the screen brightness down a bit.
05:27So that's it for this video.
05:28If you like the video, don't like the video.
