Imagine waking up one day unable to walk, unable to talk. It's what happened to a young, aspiring medical doctor, top of his class, and 12 years later, he still has no medical diagnosis. However Curthon Munroe has been making steady improvement, which he credits to his relationship with God. He has documented his journey in a book - 'A twelve year journey: The contrary wind that blew me here'. Rynessa Cutting has more.

00:00The headache was troubling. It was as if it had a heartbeat of its own. Little did I know
00:11what was experienced by me wasn't a physical or medical problem. Like a fish out of water,
00:22I was slowly being introduced to and hijacked by a new and strange world.
00:31It's been 12 years that Kirtan Munro has been afflicted by an ailment which to date has
00:35gone undiagnosed by medical practitioners. The series of events challenged the logical
00:42and the scientific thinking of the then second year medical student who recounts the onset
00:48of his symptoms.
00:50Something was holding me down and bring all over my face and this wasn't no like small
00:59when it was very intense. What I could liken it to was someone being in a car on a highway
01:09putting their face outside the car's drive only to wake up the following day. I just
01:16fell down. I tried to walk and just fell. So I wondered what is all this?
01:25In a matter of days, Munro's entire body was failing him. Unable to walk or even speak,
01:31he was hospitalised in Jamaica.
01:34So I tried to move only to realise I couldn't move at all. I tried to call out for help
01:42only to realise I couldn't make a song. They test me for a lot of things like for the chicken
01:51they thought was Parkinson's so they tested me for Parkinson's. Many injectives.
01:58After being hospitalised for close to four months, he was transferred to Trinidad where
02:03he underwent another battery of tests but to no avail. That's when he turned to God
02:09for answers.
02:11It was like 2015. I was home in the couch just lying down and crying. Praying to God
02:19like Lord tell me what is my problem. Because with all the medical tests I did and the doctors
02:28I had nothing so I didn't know what was wrong with me. So on that day I got even more than
02:35I wanted. I got who did this to me? Why? What was wrong with me?
02:45Munro says it is through this revelation and his constant studies and prayers that he is
02:51now at a stage where he can move around in his wheelchair and speak in a manner that
02:55people can understand. He says his experiences led him to chronicle his journey in a book
03:02so that people having similarly inexplicable afflictions can find comfort and hope. The
03:09book entitled A 12-Year Journey, The Contrary Wind That Blew Me Hair is available for purchase
03:16on Amazon.
03:18That's why the book is so short because the journey I'm in isn't complete. So when it's
03:25fully complete expect a second book in the name of Jesus.
03:32Amen.
